ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

We want every person who walks into The GRIND to be able to book a class, find the door, change, and get on a bike or a mat. This page says plainly what we have done, what we have not done yet, and how to tell us when we have missed something.

Our commitment

We are working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, on this website, and we treat physical access at our studios as part of the same commitment. We are not claiming that we have arrived. We would much rather hear from you than have you give up on us.

At our studios

Both North Loop and Edina have:

  • Step-free entry, with no stairs between the street and the studio floor
  • Wide doorways throughout
  • Accessible restrooms
  • Gender-neutral locker areas with lockers provided, and showers

Edina also has a front lobby with seating, and two bathrooms plus a separate changing room if you would rather change privately. North Loop has three studios, one for each format, and a shared, gender-neutral locker room.

What we cannot do yet

Our bikes cannot be adapted. They are standard studio bikes with fixed geometry and clip-in pedals, and we do not currently have hand cycles, recumbent options, or adaptive fittings. We would rather tell you that now than have you find out at the start of class.

Strength and Restore are floor-based and are the more flexible of our formats. Instructors regularly offer seated, supported and lower-impact versions of most movements. If you tell us what you need before class, we will plan for it.

Call ahead and we will meet you there

If you want to see the space before you book, ask about a specific accommodation, or have us hold a spot near the door, call the studio you are coming to. We will walk you through it. This is the fastest path to a real answer, and no one will make it awkward.

On this website

As of the date below, we have checked and can confirm the following:

  • Every page declares its language, so screen readers pronounce it correctly
  • Every page has one main heading, with headings nested in order and no skipped levels
  • A "Skip to main content" link appears as the first item when you navigate by keyboard, so you can bypass the menu
  • Images carry text descriptions, including every instructor portrait
  • Body text, headings and small label text have all been measured against their backgrounds and meet or exceed the 4.5:1 contrast minimum
  • The site can be navigated with a keyboard alone, and the focused element is visible

Where we still fall short

  • Our schedule, booking, account and purchase pages run on Mariana Tek, which is embedded from a third party. We do not control its code and cannot guarantee its accessibility. If you hit a wall there, call us and we will book you over the phone.
  • We have not yet commissioned an independent accessibility audit or testing by people who use assistive technology daily. We think that is the right next step.
  • Instructor pages are still being filled in, so some are sparse.

We do not use an accessibility overlay

Some sites install a widget that promises one-click accessibility. We have chosen not to. These tools frequently interfere with the screen readers and settings people already have configured, and they do not fix the underlying page. We would rather build the site correctly and be honest about the gaps.

Tell us what we have missed

If any part of this site or either studio is difficult or impossible for you to use, we want to know. Tell us what you were trying to do and what got in the way, and we will reply and tell you what we can fix and when.
